If you’re drawing stuff on a piece of paper, you’ll want to scan it. You can take a picture, but you’ll have to worry about lighting, camera shake, etc. etc.
If you’re SCULPTING something, then you’ll need a camera.
The scanner holds the picture in place, provides clean light, and you can scan it with whatever resolution you desire. That picture can be put into any image editing software to edit however you wish.
