How do you scan negatives with HP4850 scanner?

Todd asked: I have an HP4850 scanner. It has all of the features you need to scan negatives.(or so it says). When I press the button for negatives, the pop-up box has no options for scanning negs, only pics, photos, and documents. I searched with HP and for their example they show instructions for a like scanner (G4050) but what they show will happen as you do the steps does not even come close to what actually happens with the 4850.
